Ian Smith
Director – Accessibility Solutions & Platforms

BURLINGTON, MA – Ian Smith, Director of Accessibility Solutions and Services at codemantra has been selected to speak at the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) Humanities Roundtable on September 23, 2020. Smith will speak on “Solutions for Creating Accessible Content” by leveraging his many years of digital document remediation experience from working with publishers, higher education, and public sector clients.

“NISO is very pleased that Ian Smith could join our Humanities Roundtable this year to speak on digital accessibility issues,” stated Todd Carpenter, Executive Director of NISO. “It’s thought leaders like Ian that bring real-world experience to our roundtable and will make our event something you won’t want to miss.”

The theme of this year’s Humanities Roundtable is building better — better diversity, better accessibility, better technology — in order to develop a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable humanities community. From the complexities of controlled vocabularies and thesauri, to dealing with historically offensive language, and from defining accessibility in a humanities context to designing for it, the speakers will touch on many of the critical changes the digital humanities need.

“I am thrilled to be speaking at NISO’s Humanities Roundtable!” stated Ian Smith, Director of Accessibility Solutions and Services at codemantra. “The opportunity to present to this audience is an honor that I am looking forward to.”
